Last week, we went to New Orleans and saw three Mardi Gras parades. (Mardi Gras begins on Epiphany, or January 6th, and ends on Fat Tuesday.)
We saw parades on January 27th to January 29th. (For the Parade schedule, you can go here: https://www.neworleans.com/events/holidays-seasonal/mardi-gras/mardi-gras-parade-schedule/)
January 27th, we saw this man in a great yellow suit!
January 28th parade was small and more political,
Here is a photo of a float mocking their elected officials. A sign behind Senator Kennedy says, "IF I Only Had a BRANE."
The next day we saw a daytime parade called Tit Rex with mini-floats! What !!!!
This is a super tiny float with a graveyard on top with the sign reading, "A Requiem For the Polls."
We also got lots of super cool throws! These are just some of the throws we got!
Lots of Beads!!!!
Ducky in a min-champaign glass!!
Hodgepodge of fun!!!
Wooden Nickels and some buttons for good measure!
In addition to the many parades, we also had to go to a house party with red beans and rice. Philadelphians always find other Philadelphians...
and we went to a former Philadelphian's house with a cool floor mat that read, "wipe your feet on this jawn."
We did take a break once (or twice) from parading and went to the insectarium and aquarium.
This is the famous albino alligator who is just chilling out.
We had to go the King Cake Hub! This place is like Disney World, but with King Cakes! Even two weeks later, I still dream about it. https://kingcakehub.com/ has more information about it.
Brett Holding a King Cake at the King Cake Hub!
We ended our experience by visitin Brett Holding a King Cake at the King Cake Hub! g Lake Pontchartrain. This lake is huge, and it feels like you're at the ocean.

While I'm writing this, I'm in a NOLA state of mind, and thinking about the amazing saxophone trio I saw at Spotted Cat.
